Every second Sunday of the month, Edgewater Park comes alive with the vibrant and colorful “Free Fly” event hosted by the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK). From noon until dinner, this gathering at the beautiful lakeside setting is an open invitation to everyone – members and non-members alike – to join in the joy of kite flying. Here, the sky above Lake Erie is adorned with kites of all shapes and sizes, providing a spectacular view against the city backdrop. Whether you’re an experienced kite flyer, a beginner, or simply a spectator, the “Free Fly” offers a warm and friendly atmosphere where everyone can share in the fun, learn about kite flying, and enjoy the sense of community that comes with this timeless outdoor activity.
